    Description

Vintage Tohono O’odham American Indian Cylindrical Coiled Basket with
    Arrowhead Motif
This tightly coiled Tohono O'odham (formerly known as Papago) cylindrical coiled basket is constructed of yucca and devil's claw coiled on a grass/ cattail bundled foundation.  Probably dating from about the 1950's-70's, the basket is slightly bulbous and features 4 arrowhead motifs stitched with devil's claw. Basket is very clean with a modest patina.  The only damage is one tiny area of 1 or 2 missing yucca stitches exposing the bundle foundation. This is barely visible with no color contrast evident. A nice tight and functional basketry container.
Dimensions:  6" tall, 7" top diameter, 6-1/2" base diameter
Condition:  Very good, clean. One tiny small area with missing stitch(s) showing bundle foundation (see photos).
