vintage Native American Utilitarian Basket

Description

This is an American utilitarian Basket. The condition is as shown on the photos. It's very stable but has lost the end of it's decorative wrap on one of the 3 areas on the rim. The edge-wrapped areas are faded vegetable dye. The white marks are where someone splashed paint on it.  I know absolutely nothing about these baskets. Someone suggested that it could be south of the border as far south as the Amazon River.
