[Thai Occult] PHA YANT - Talismanic Cloth (20th Century)
(Mid to late 20th Century) A wonderful old pha yant designed to protect the owner from any and all harm. It has been
drawn and inscribed by hand
in the Lanna script, believed by many to be derived from the influence of both the Khmer and Mon empires. This cloth Measures 24 x 15 inches. It contains several yant designs and a number of magical incantations, combining Buddhist and animist elements.
The cloth has been folded and was probably carried in a pocket to keep protection close at hand. If held to the light one can see several very small holes. The cloth also has some staining which may indicate the possibility that it was inscribed on a portion of corpse cloth, though this cannot be confirmed.
