Small vintage Native American Basket Interesting Weave As Is

This is a very small Native American hand-woven basket with a very interesting weave pattern. It is light and quite delicate. Not sure what material it is -- inside layer could be bamboo or another reed, but there is a fine twig-like material used as the layer on the outside.
The weave is broken on the outside on one side -- see photos.  Even on the sides where it is not entirely broken, the single strands that serve as the outside net have broken off in several places.
Measurements: Total width about 3 1/2 inches across. Opening at top is 2 1/4 inches.
Selling it as is - buyer acknowledges that the outside of the basket has breakage.
This basket came from my  mother's extensive Native American basket collection.  The note with it said it came from a tribe in California.
