    Southwestern Tohono O'odham
    WOVEN LIDDED BASKET
    comprised of
    bear grass
    coils bound with
    yucca
    leaf and root fiber, and
    Devil's Claw
    . Base diameter = 4 1/2". Rim diameter = 2". Total height = 4 1/2"
    . Solid construction.
    The woven exterior strap is anchored to the basket wall and the underside of the lid in a manner that--when the assortment is hung or carried--secures the lid
    (as I hope the pictures demonstrate--please contact me for more info)
    . The basket and lid are sturdy and rugged, no separated or broken weaves. The exterior appears weathered due to its age. A section of the weave on the strap is stretched (photo 8); the strap remains intact but I wouldn't yank on it too hard.
