Personal Memoirs of P.H. Sheridan Published 1888

Description

1888 memoirs of Civil War General and indian fighter Philip Sheridan.  Several months after he completed the book, Sheridan died.  Comes in Volumes I and II.  Back and front covers and binding of both volumes are all in poor condition.  The covers have come off but can be reattached.  The rest of the books-pages and illustrations all appear to be intact and in good condition.  An internet search will find many first editions that are green, cloth bound, and with gilding.  This issue is brown leather-possibly very rare and without the gilding. These memoirs are important historical documents and in very good condition can retail for ,000 plus.  They look to have never been read but over 130 years the leather has deteriorated.
