Mic Mac Indian Basket 12" x 9" Curls Sweet Grass Handle Lid Red Penobscot Eastern
This is a vintage Mic Mac / Penobscot basket that measures 12" diameter x 9" tall. This lidded basket features many rows of curls and sweet grass woven thruout....especially on the lid. There are 15 rows of woven grass and three rows of curls on the lid alone. The lid has some damage however. Note that some of the main framework pieces are broken. It displays ok when the lid is in place and not too noticable. This is a really beautiful example of workmanship and the curls are in good shape...a few broken on the main bottom part. This basket may be signed on the bottom...see my photo pointing to pencil writting. The woven sweet grass handle at the top is attractive and intricately designed. The inside of the basket is a surprise of color...red and green. There is one slat on the bottom that is cracked. I think pine needles may be worked in the rim. This basket has some flaws but is a wonderful example of various techniques and is large size item. See my store for other interesting baskets and vintage items.

SHIPPING DETAILS:  We ship via USPS with insurance on all our items.  If package is less than 13oz it will be sent First Class.  If package is over 13oz to 5 lbs it will be sent Priority Mail.  If package is over 5 lbs it will be sent Priority Mail or Retail Ground.     Book packages less than 5oz will be sent First Class.  Book packages over 5oz will be sent Media Mail.
