Indoor unit looks like a little post office mail box.  It uses 2 AA batteries. The indoor unit plays a melody chime when the mail arrives then the bright LED continues to flash in case you were not around when the mail was delivered.  You press on the top to acknowledge it and stop the LED from blinking.  The unit blinks about once per second.  The indoor unit is about 2-1/2" wide x 3-3/4" high x 1-1/4" deep.
The outdoor unit will need battery type 23A (MN21) and is readily available here on eBay.
When the postman comes and opens the door, the remote unit is tilted down and it signals the indoor unit that the mail has arrived.  The remote unit is about 3" Long X 1.5" high X 1" deep.
The indoor unit will also blink twice or three times in a row every second or so to let you know if the remote or indoor unit batteries are low.
