When the mailbox door is opened, the sensor on the mailbox door sends a wireless signal to the Mail Chime in your home.  The mail chime then tells you by a bright red led light and four beeps that your mail has been delivered

I received this as a gift so it's 'new in box' and the box has not been opened. It was a lovely, considerate gift for me, but not needed as I can see the mailbox easily from my house window!
