A fine book on Farming from years past.
Condition: Good for age -
Both volumes are dark, probably bonded, leather with gilt tiles and decoration on the front and spine. Both volumes have edge and corner wear with Vol. 1 being somewhat better shape than Vol. 2. Vol. Has some wear along the front spine edge which looks to have been reinforced at some point; there is also some loss on the spine of Vol. 2. Both books are square and the bindings are secure with the problem noted above for Vol. 2. Neither book has parted or torn hinges on the inside. ; Vol. 2 VOL; B&W Steel Engravings; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 1050 pages; I can find no editions of this work with a date earlier than 1866, though the copyright date on the back of the title page for both these volumes in 1863 which may indicate and earlier edition or may mean that they simply were not published until after the Civil War. Volume 1 of this set has a printed bookplate for G. S. Leininger tipped in between the ffep and the second free endpaper. On this plate Leininger has written, "Please take good care of this book. By doing so you will oblige. This Book" The bookplateis dated 1880. Quite a rare find for a complete set of this age and period.
