ANTIQUE Collectible NATIVE HOPI Coiled BASKET With HANDLE, Deer & Original Tag

$ 36.6

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

Another great little basket out of my parents collection and recently out of a long storage.
Small, coiled Hopi Basket with Handle, with what appear to be a Deer on each side, separated by storm clouds, between them. It measures 4" high x 5 1/2" across in diameter, and has a woven handle with a loop on each side. It retains its original old sales tag attached, where noted it originally sold for .00, at the Museum of Northern Arizona. The date is rubbed off the tag, but the price and artisans name is still partially visible, and it came from the Hopi 2nd Mesa village, of Mishongnovi.
Condition is excellent for its age, and very collectible. It has some minor staining to the bottom, and only 2 missing stitches that I can detect, and retains a nice aged, untouched patina. A great old basket for the collector, and comes from a smoke free environment.
Circa:  1940
