Robert Vansittart was a senior British diplomat before and during the Second World War and was private secretary to the Prime Minister from 1928 to 1930. Alongside his political career, he was also a published poet, playwright and novelist. Vansittart was particularly well-known for his stance against appeasement in the months leading up to the Second World War.
This scarce example of his play writing is his third published play and is based in Persia in the first half of the Eighteenth Century.
CONDITION
In a green cloth binding with gilt detail to the front board. Externally in excellent condition with just a few light marks to the boards. Signed by the author to the front free endpaer. Slight offsetting to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just some marginal age toning due to paper used.
