    Description

    David Lavender
    Let Me Be Free
    / The Nez Perce Tragedy
    Harper/Collins; NY;
    1992 / First Edition;
    403 pages
    Fine Hardback in a Fine Dust Jacket
    Remainder line to the
    bottom edge of
    the page block.
    "Only a veteran chronicler of the American West like David Lavender could clear up the misconceptions of the Nez Perce Tragedy and at the same time create another literary classic with his Let Me Be Free."
    --Dee Brown
    This true first edition
    can be differentiated from
    the History Book Club edition
    by the following points:
    1. On the copyright page, the trade edition has a paragraph beginning "Harper Collins books may be purchased for educational..." above the "First Edition" slug. The book club edition lacks this paragraph entirely.
    2. The upper corner of the front jacket flap has a price and the lower corner has the numbers "0592N". The book club edition is blank in both places, any corner clipping should be suspect.
    3. The rear flap of the trade edition's jacket mentions that the book has been selected by the History Book Club in a line above the author's photograph. The book club edition has no such boast and adds "Printed in U.S.A" above the Harper Collins slug at the bottom of that flap.
