I Scanned Only The Front Cover And Last Page. I Did Not Want to Open Any Pages Flat to Scan Because The Page Might Tear or Damage.
I Received This Pamphlet From The Grand Daughter of a German Immigrant. She Said it came from Her Great Grand Father And was Stored inside Her Attic in NJ for Generations. She was Cleaning out the Attic And Found This Inside a Box that Belonged to Him.
In 1850, P. T. Barnum convinced Jenny Lind to begin a tour of America that he would finance and promote.
Lind was a superstar in Europe, and, thanks to the shrewd promotion of Barnum, the American tour of the "Swedish Nightingale" was an enormous success. Barnum carefully orchestrated public appearances, emphasizing her modest and demure nature instead of her singing.
The result were huge crowds and the runaway success of concerts and Lind-related products.
This pamphlet was one of the many products created to fill the public's insatiable appetite for Lind.
In this strange story, Santa Claus (not the jolly elf we know today, but a small man similar in appearance to Napoleon, (who rides a magical broom) travels all year long (not just on Christmas) giving presents to good girls and boys. On one of these trips, Santa hears lovely singing, and, lo and behold, it is Lind! She agrees to ride the broom with Santa, singing to him and all of the good children while he bestows his presents.
A delightful and very rare item!
