1793 S.13 Liberty Cap Large cent, PCGS VG10 and contained in an Old, Green label Holder (OGH).  Perhaps the only 1793 Cap cent in an OGH...certainly the only one we've ever seen!  Here is a rare coin indeed, and one of our favorite US coins period!  A mere 11,056 (0.56 face value) of these were struck and delivered to the Treasurer of the Mint in September 1793, just hours before the mint closed to try and avoid the latest Yellow Fever epidemic.  That might have been too late, as the engraver of these dies, Joseph Wright, had already succumbed, not living long enough to see the coins struck.  This example, while not perfect, is really lovely.  The details are solid Fine, and everything is bold and clear.  You could count each and every one of the beads that make up the border, and that definitively set this coin apart from the early 1794 cent issues - those with Head of 1793 - as a distinct type.  The date is absolutely full and clear, with each digit distinct.  The surfaces are fundamentally smooth and free of even minor issue, though a natural, mint-made lamination appears on the obverse.  It is not at all problematic, and actually lends additional charm to the coin...we can more fully appreciate the truly primitive conditions under which it was made.  '93 Caps are rare and important US coins.  If you are hoping that a better one will come along - and maybe even hoping it might cost less money if it ever does - we would strongly suggest that isn't likely to happen.
