Description
At McIntire’s Mini Mansion we are blessed with absolutely beautiful Silkie, Stripper & Showgirls both bearded and non-bearded. We are a Confetti Pen currently so a fun variety of colors will hatch. Satin & Frizzle possible. Our Flock is fed a high-quality non medicated diet consisting of both organic and non-organic foods, including lots of raw fruits and veggies. They have a large outside area they can roam in, compete for insects, socialize, and soak up some sun. They enjoy fresh, unprocessed well-water and uncrowded, wide-open living conditions.
We harvest eggs twice a day candle, stamp and sort them and then package them all by hand, I don’t wash hatching eggs – Ever. Eggs have a protective coating called a bloom that works to keep out bacteria. Washing them removes that. Once your eggs have arrived, carefully unpack them and candle each one. If any of the eggs have hairline cracks, you can try melting candle wax and dripping it on to the crack to seal it. This doesn’t always work. Should the sealed egg develop a blood ring, begin to smell, or seep fluids immediately remove it from the incubator. Allow the eggs to sit upright in an egg carton (large end up) for 24 hours at room temperature.
One of the most common problems you’ll encounter with shipped eggs is damaged air cells. Rough handling during shipping will cause the air cell to become misshapen, detached, etc. To combat this and give the air cells a chance to settle. I place the eggs in the incubator large end up in the automatic turner or in an egg carton and I don’t turn them for at least the first 4-7 days of incubation, depending upon how badly they’re damaged. After 4-7 days start turning..
I try to avoid shipping near or on weekends in order to avoid a layover time this way eggs get to you promptly without delay or layover, (most shipments go out on Monday or Tuesday every week around noon). Each individual egg is wrapped in bubble wrap; the bubble wrap will be marked on one end showing the wide end is up when packaged. (This is to help ensure better care of air cells during their transportation) Once in bubble wrap the eggs are firmly and tightly packed in styrofoam peanuts as to help ensure any ruff handling by the post office. I do supply 1-2 extra eggs per shipment to unforeseen circumstances. (Even though we mark Fragile and This End Up on the box directions are not always followed.)
Yes, we realize they are a bit more costly than the eggs you might buy locally, and here’s why we hope you won’t mind spending a little bit more, knowing your money is doing a LOT more.
The purchase of OUR eggs benefits not only the rescue animals on the Homestead, but also your local small business and community relations. You get super-fresh, top-quality eggs, while also directly supporting McIntire’s Mini Mansion and all of our animals. So, your purchase of our Fertile mix goes toward the various types of feeds and bedding we need for the animals every week, as well as toward all other aspects of the maintenance and restoration of The McIntire Mini Mansion. We genuinely thank you for your business! Check out our Facebook page. Search for "McIntire's Mini Mansion"
Disclaimer: Hatching shipped eggs is always a gamble as there are so many variables that can affect their viability such as: rough handling during shipping, x-ray machines, changes in air pressure, exposure to extreme temperatures, etc. Even though I regularly have 90%-100% hatch rates with our own eggs, I usually only expect to have 60%-80% with shipped eggs (the best I’ve ever had with shipped eggs was 97% and the worst is, of course 0%) No refunds will be given on fertile eggs.
