For your consideration we have
12+ fertile hatching eggs
from our purebred
True SHOW QUALITY
Rhode Island Reds
These are the sweetest birds ever!
We have been raising and showing these now for over 25 years. They are an old heritage line, the TRUE Rhode Island Reds NOT hatchery reds. Started our line from George Ryan show line and his family had been raising and showing them for 3 generations. They go back to Mohawk lines. You won't find a mean bird in my line, all SUPER GENTLE and do go broody as well. You will LOVE adding some of these red beauties to your flock!!
Check out more photos of our heritage standard RI Reds in their album on my Facebook page.
**NOTE** We also raise RI Red Bantams, MilleFleur/Calico Cochin Bantams and Porcelain Cochin Bantams. Check out photos in their albums on my personal Facebook page, Roslyn Pickens!
We gladly combine shipping... each additional auctions are only .00 each.
See other listings for color varieties you like or just contact me if you don't see one you want.
I start gathering for you when your eggs are purchased so it could be 2-4 days before your order is shipped unless hens go broody causing eggs production down then I will notify you when to expect your eggs.
If this doesn't work for you then I will gladly send you a refund.
Our main goal is sharing our birds and we do all we can to make sure you get healthy fertile eggs that will hatch into healthy colorful birds for you to love as much as we do.
We gather several times a day to keep the eggs from getting to hot or to cold, to insure they are fresh and fertile for you. Eggs are dated and turned three times a day and stored in a chilled temperature controlled room to assure you the best possible hatch. All eggs are coded on which pen they come from and are no more than 3-4 days old when shipped. This insures the eggs are stronger to handle the shipping. Be aware though that any extra eggs I include could be a few days older and can be from any of my other breeds.
We take MO, Pay Pal or E-Checks... Shipping sent 2-3 day Priority Mail
.
Eggs are wrapped individually in a long strip of bubble wrap then nestled in an egg carton or box then secured in LOTS of crumpled newspaper in a Priority shipping box,
Box is clearly marked FRAGILE HATCHING EGGS, but will be happy to mark box any way you like.
We recommend having the box posted to HOLD & CALL for Pickup then they don't have to ride around in the mail van all day or get left out in the heat or cold, all we need is a # to post on the box for them to call on arrival.
I pack and ship they way I would like my eggs shipped with lots of packing!
WE HAVE HAD AN EXCELLENT HATCH RATE HERE ON THE FARM AND SET EGGS WEEKLY FROM EACH PEN TO KEEP A CHECK ON FERTILITY,
HOWEVER WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR HATCH RATE
DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES OUT OF OUR CONTROL.
ROUGH POSTAL HANDLING, INCUBATOR MISHAPS AND EVEN DIRTY HANDS TURNING EGGS WILL MAKE PERFECTLY FERTILE EGGS NOT DEVELOP OR HATCH.
PURCHASING SHIPPED HATCHING EGGS IS A RISK,
SO PLEASE BE UNDERSTANDING AND KNOW THIS WHEN PURCHASING HATCHING EGGS!
I post feedback as soon as I ship so PLEASE leave me feedback as soon as you receive your eggs.
Feedback is on quality of eggs and shipping only NOT on hatch rate.
If you have a problem hatching please contact me first and I will try to help you as much as I can to see you get some of our lovely birds.
Cochins
are one of the most sweetest quiet and docile birds you will ever be around. Great for kids of all ages and 4-H poultry projects as well! I have SEVERAL that are just total pets and follow me around the yard like a dog. They are great layers, but really prefer being broody or taking care of chicks. We use them to hatch all of our turkey and peafowl eggs. The Cochins love getting all the attention on our farm and they get a lot of it from us and all who visit us!
At
Lucky Pickens Farm
we've been raising poultry for over 50 years and strive to raise high quality birds for show or just for pets. All birds on our farm are blood tested NPIP Pullorum/Typhoid clean. We see that our birds are kept happy and healthy by giving them the very best feed and TLC daily! We strive to breed to the Standard of Perfection on each breed we raise and all are purebred and kept in individual breeding pens away from predators. We feed a high quality, high protein all natural game bird breeder pellet with vitamins and minerals in the water daily to insure high fertility. We also feed a little scratch grains, Calf Manna and veggie treats which Gary grows in his garden. We also get the produce that our local grocery store throws away and boy do they LOVE all the different fruit and vegetables we get every few days. We LOVE spoiling our birds and it shows! I have Myasthenia Gravis and Fibromyalgia and can't work, so my chickens are my therapy that keep me going, selling a few hatching eggs helps me buy feed for my little feathered loved ones. You can see more photos on our Facebook page Lucky Pickens Farm
. We are always happy to answer any questions about them.
THANK YOU FOR LOOKING & GOOD LUCK BIDDING!

We had a great time at our county fair Sept 11, 2014, we had 15 entries and took 1st place on them all then we took Best Bantam Cockerel with a Silver Lace Cochin Bantam, Best Standard Hen with a Blue Frizzle Cochin and my big Lemon Blue Cochins took Best Standard Young Trio, Best Standard Pullet, even though they are not a recognized variety the judge just loved them! Our heritage RI Reds took Best Standard Old Trio, Best Standard Cock and then the Cock took Reserve Grand Champion Overall. I had a great week also winning a BOS and Sweepstakes in the Field Crops and with a Mini Rex Rabbit doe I took Grand Champion in the Open division and several other BOS with a few others. Glad it is over now and on to thinking about 2015!!

They are the prettiest little cochins I have ever seen! They are a few weeks old and I regret buying from anyone else. Thank you again for my little herd :)

Eggs arrived Monday in perfect condition. You did an excellent job of wrapping and packaging and i thank you for that. Thank you for the different varieties of Cochins like I asked. And thank you for the RI reds. They all went under my broody silkie last night. I will let you know about the hatch when the time comes. I hope I have a lot of hens since I'm going to have to give the roosters away when they grow up!

Roslyn, Just wanted you to know that out of the 24 eggs, 19 candled and 18 hatched! They are adorable! That's a 75% hatch rate on shipped eggs which I would consider a good hatch from my own eggs. BTW, They are the friendliest chicks I've had so far. They don't run from you when you reach into the brooder. They actually come into my hand. I'm so pleased. My grand daughter is starting her first year in mini 4H and will be using these chicks, I hope they will be old enough to show as pullets or cockerals this year.
Thanks again, Joedie

Just wanted to give you an up-date... You sent me 24 eggs right? 20 of those eggs went into lock-down this morning. I candled the eggs as I was putting them in and every single one of the 20 eggs that made it this far had movement in them before they went into the hatcher.
That's just crazy high numbers for shipped eggs!

Roslyn,
A big thank you for the lovely box of eggs you sent! Your packing was stellar with none broken or even cracked. They arrived yesterday, rested overnight, and I just finished tucking them under the girls this evening. It was generous of you to send the extra eggs besides the calicos. I can hardly wait to see how this hatch goes. I do love my cochin bantams.
Kind regards,
Cheryl

Roslyn, I just wanted to let you know that out of the 9 cochin eggs and the 15 rir eggs that you sent me 7 cochin and 12 rir eggs were viable. The other 5 never developed at all but the ones that did all hatched so I now have 12 rir and 7 cochins in the brooder.
Just wanted to let you know how it went and to thank you for the eggs. The cochins are 1 day old and are already seem to enjoy the grandkids playing with them.
Thanks Dan
