My Malines can be sexed as chicks. I have maintained the Belgium way of breeding. Look closely at the chicks in the picture. The darker ones are female and lighter with yellowish tent are males.
The Malines are a massive bird, among the heaviest of the chicken breeds and very friendly. The Malines is reared mainly for its meat, which is fine, pale, and close-textured. Hens lay about 140–160 tinted eggs per year and are good mothers and excellent sitters. This is one of my favorite breeds we raise as they are very gentle, extremely curious, and love to forage for bugs.
I can't guarantee hatch rates because of shipping and handling by the post office after it leaves my control.
I package my eggs well and will send extras. I do not wash the eggs because it destroys the protective barrier on the eggs. The hens puts a protective barrier on the egg to keep bacteria out of the eggs.
